Discovering Your Life Purpose
Discovery No Comments »What do others come to you for? Recently, when thinking about life purpose it occurred to me that what I have ended up doing in my life, is what friends, family, neighbors and co-workers come to me for.
Sometimews before we recognize what our purpose is, others recognize it first. There is something that attracts them to us. What is it for you? Do friends come to you to listen to them, give them advice, help them out with decisions, financial direction?
Once you can put your finger on what it is, ask yourself this, how do you feel about that? Is that what you want people coming to you for. Is that how you want to be known? Hopefully it is, but don’t worry if it isn’t. You get to decide if that is how you want others to see you. If you don’t like it, what would you like to be approached for instead?
Perhaps others like to dump their problems on you, why because you always listen and your kind about it too. But it can be challenging to listen to worries and grief all the time., What can you do about it? Are there some things about them coming to you that you like? How about the fact that they value your listening and how safe they feel talking to you? Try instead asking them to reflect on how they want to turn troubles into triumphs!
Everyone may not like the turning of the tables, but what if they come up with a solution for turning the situation around? What if it actually helps them change how they are treated by others?
Our life purpose comes through in all that we do. Somewhere out there we are discovering what that is in all we do. Pay attention this week to what others come to you for. I’ll be curious to see what you come up with. Share some thoughts with us here.
